Surprise!

When was the last time you surprised your spouse? In a good way?

Goals, Etc

What goals have you set as a couple? Have you taken the time to share your dreams with one another … for your family, your career, or any other personal goals. Having shared goals keeps you on the same page, while allowing you to accomplish those goals together.

I, You, We

What pronouns do you most often use when communicating with your spouse? Do you find yourself starting sentences with “You make me …” or “You just don’t …”? A better way would be say, “I understand you to be saying …”

Forgiveness

Saying “Please forgive me” is much better than “I’m sorry.” And following it up with action is even better.

Use the Power of Compliments

When your spouse does something you appreciate, tell her about it. A well-placed compliment can be the start of a great day.

Plan of Action

Talk about how you and your spouse will respond to a crisis … before the crisis happens. This will allow you to develop a healthy response to unexpected things that come up — being proactive rather than reactive.
